The Last Drone Prototype Launch

Prototype is available to play in browser

Hello everyone!

I've just published my first game prototype. For the last 15 years I've tried to create games, but never actually produced something on this level. I am not a programmer or a designer, and my job has nothing to do with games. The only programming languange I've actually formally studied was Action Script 2.0, I can't even remember the year. Since those times I've always dreamt to create an interesting experience that other people can enjoy. Hopefully this is the case with this project.

The Last Drone is imagined as an adventure platformer with a lot of exploration and puzzles to solve. I am afraid of calling it a metroidvania since current scope is way smaller. Right now the game has only one item, but I am willing to put more hours to make it into a complete long-form game with different zones, combat and a lot of new items.

Current iteration of this project took me about 2 months to make. I learnt a lot a and want to talk how I approached certain problems while developing this prototype. This will be done in a form of several Devlogs on YouTube and text-form here on Itch.

I will be very greatful if you find some time to play this game and share your feedback. I am very  open to critisizm and new ideas.

I've used assets made by greatly talented people. Please check them out, all links are avaiable on the game's page.

What's next

I want to take a very short break to gather as much feedback as possible and continue development with fresh mind and new ideas. I definetly plan to add the following features:

  • Option to remap controls.
  • Saving and loading the game.
  • Starting screen.
  • Speerun support (mainly timers, but probably leaderboard too).
  • New soundtrack.
  • New puzzles with new mechanics (moving platforms, elevators, lasers and mirrors and many more!)

Speaking about soundtrack, music has always been my passion. Current version of game uses music generated in Suno. I know that not everyone likes this type of stuff and want to write and record my own soundtrack. It will take a lot of time, and right now I want to be concentrated on game design, so this probably would happen later.

After the break I want to add other items and abilities, new zones and combat system. Your ideas will be very helpful!

Thanks!
